The Snow Patrol singer, 40, has some new ink — of his ladylove’s initials. The letters are intertwined on his right wrist, and he showed ’em off while stroking the Friends alum’s face in a photo of the two of them on Instagram.
It’s the first time he’s posted a photo of Cox, 52, since he joined Instagram in February. He kept the caption simple: “Ta-two.”
While couples who get tattoo tributes to each other make us nervous, the Irish musician is thoughtful about his ink. He also has one on his left arm in Gaelic that translates to, “When I need to get home, you’re my guiding light.” It’s from the song “Guiding Light,” which was written for his late father, John McDaid Sr., by Foy Vance. (Vance and Ed Sheeran, who often covers the song, have the same tattoo.)
Cox started dating McDaid in 2013. They announced their engagement in 2014, called it off in December, and reconciled in March. In August, photos emerged of them having an argument over dinner. However, a few weeks later, in an episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls, Cox, who has a daughter with ex-husband David Arquette, talked about their relationship, saying it was back on track after their “brutal” split.
“He’s from Ireland. And the way he regards love is precious,” she admitted. “We have to treat it in a different way. It’s more special — you coddle it. So I didn’t know how to regard love the way he does. And I definitely made a lot of mistakes that I see — whether it’s codependency or people-pleasing. I didn’t know how to bring it in More.”
